Terri Heck of Summit Search and Rescue has actively handled four bloodhounds for both missing person and criminal investigation for twenty-two years. Her K9 partners have been utilized for cases involving murder, arson, armed robbery, burglary, along with lesser crimes, and missing persons cases. As the years went by, there were so many moments of anxiety, confusion, and guilt observed as folks were affected by missing loved ones and what came forth from the missing when found. Victims of crime suffered. With that realization, Heck had Detective K9 Briggs certified as a Therapy Dog in 2017.
