Overlooked by its glamorous past, Egypt is not a relic for the history books. With a thriving modern culture, the heart of the Middle East and North Africa, Egypt is a leading nation in the arts, music and entertainment. In this course we will dive into the identity of the modern Egyptians, the culture thriving today and how modern Egypt came to be. 

Hesham Hassanein has a BA in political science from UMBC, Baltimore Maryland. As a program coordinator at Strategic Capacity Group, he has organized trainings for international correctional officers out of the MPCTC police academy in Sykesville, MD. He is a former English and Arabic teacher with experiences in Maryland and South Korea.
