This course offers a examination of diverse strands of feminist theory within the social sciences. Participants will discuss their past exposure to and knowledge of feminist perspectives and critically evaluate the identified categories of sex and gender. The course proceeds with an overview of the history of feminist praxis and theory. Explicit attention will be drawn to the ways in which feminist activism has informed the development of feminist academic scholarship, and to the ways in which both activism and scholarship have shaped the policy landscape of American society.
