One of the popular misconceptions of armored fighting vehicles during WWII was the superiority of German AFVs. The propaganda put forth by Germany on the prowess of the new German combat system known as Blitzkrieg had the world amazed that Germany commanded a significant lead in this field. However, on June 23, 1941, panzers of the German 7th Panzer Division encountered hull-down Soviet T-34s of the Fifth Soviet Tank Division in Belorussia, and at that moment the German panzerwaffen met its match. This was the paradigm shift in armor design.

Kenneth Weiler, author, writer, and lecturer, has written several books on the subject of the Second World War.
