Introduction to Pickleball

The two-hour clinic will cover the court, forehand ground stroke, backhand ground stroke, forehand and backhand volleys, the serve and return of serve, player positioning, scoring, service rotation, and basic strategy. By the end of the clinic players will be able to play the game. Players will need court/gym shoes and comfortable activewear. Instructors will be supplied for each court of four players, balls and paddles will be supplied. Players should bring water with them to the courts. Park in the ice skating parking lot.

  • $10 of the course fee will be used to cover the cost of balls.

*Ken Swalgin, Ph.D., Ohio State, is a retired faculty with emeritus status in the kinesiology department at Penn State York. He is now president of the White Rose Pickleball Association (WRPA), a 501(C)3 nonprofit corporation. The WRPA has more than 400 members and has built eight outdoor courts in Veterans Memorial Park across from York Catholic High School. Their website is yorkpickleball.org.
