Start your tour of the Goddard Space Center with their Visitor Center and a viewing of a short presentation they refer to as a Goddard Overview. You will then tour Building 29 where you will hear about the James Webb Space Telescope, the Nancy Grace Roman Telescope, view the Goddard Clean Room, and hear more about the process of assembling satellites. Next you will travel to Building 7, the Integration and Testing Building, where you will walk along a second-floor catwalk and view smaller clean room areas and additional satellite projects. You will also observe various cryovac chambers used in satellite testing, view their vibration test bed, and see the Space Environment Simulator.
IMPORTANT – Government issued photo identification is required for security check. Visitors must wear closed toed shoes. Heels and sandals are not permitted. Backpacks, bags, and large purses must remain on the bus. This is a three-sneaker trip, with a substantial amount of walking - outdoor walking, historic tour pace, and not all areas accessible. Cost of the trip includes a bagged lunch provided by R&K Subs. Sandwich and drink choices will be sent to you by email after registering. There is a large picnic area on the museum grounds, in case of inclement weather we will eat on the bus.
