This course is an updated and improved version of a course presented previously. The new version of the course includes six major topics. The content of each of the five original topics has been expanded and improved, and a new topic, the Future of Cartography, has been added. These topics, Mapping in the Ancient and Medieval World, Mapping in the Age of Discovery, The World Expands, Mapping in the Age of Empires and Nationalism, Mapping in the Modern World, and the Future of Cartography, will be presented and discussed sequentially across three class sessions. Each topic will include information on the cultures and individuals who played roles in the evolution of cartography throughout history and into the future.
