By the time European pioneers put down stakes in York County, the Native Americans were largely gone or the land available for settlement by treaty. Without such conflict, well-watered and soil-rich York County grew as an agricultural center and gateway to America's hinterlands. This is the second of four courses that provide broad surveys of York County's past, with the 1800s in the winter 2025 and the 1900s in the spring 2025.
