Maybe you’re interested in river cruises. Or bicycling. Or maybe you just want to see Europe up close. For Josh, it was all three. Join Josh for video highlights of the bicycle/barge cruise he took from Bruges, Belgium to Amsterdam, The Netherlands. You’ll get to experience an amazing variety of sights while exploring this beautiful countryside. To give you a better sense of the tour, we’ll take it in order, day by day. We’ll travel to little towns and big cities. We’ll see farms, canals, bridges, ferries, monuments—and of course, windmills. Maybe this could be your next great adventure! This course is a Travelogue, a lecture about the places visited and experiences encountered by the instructor. It is not an in-depth lecture about the site’s history, architecture, government, etc.

Josh Hooper is executive director emeritus of the Pennsylvania Environmental Resource Consortium (PERC), of which Penn State is a member institution. Prior to joining PERC, Josh worked in marketing, broadcasting, filmmaking and theater, both behind the scenes and as a performer, including at WGAL-TV’s PM Magazine, which he hosted. He did graduate work as a Directing Fellow at the American Film Institute Conservatory. He has taught two other classes for OLLI: one about the Climate Crisis and another called Monogamy, Sex, and War. Although not a devotee of musicals, he is a rabid fan of Hamilton.
