O’zapft is! (It’s tapped!) The cheerful shout by Munich’s mayor as he slams a huge wooden mallet into a large beer keg is the start of the world’s largest and most famous festival enjoyed by millions annually in Bavaria, southern Germany. Celebrating a royal marriage dating to 1810, the Oktoberfest is held for 2 weeks ending in October. While there are many October celebrations around the world, the Munich Oktoberfest is the original. Come hear oom-pah music and learn many interesting facts about Bavarian traditions surrounding the famous festival, whether you like beer or not. Prosit!
