Introduction to Fly Fishing

This session is intended for participants with little or no fly fishing experience. Information will be provided to enable participants to determine if they would like to further their interest in fly fishing. The information will be relevant to fishing in our local waters for trout and bass. It will include brief discussions on equipment, places to fish, basic approaches, rigging, stream biology, fly tying, and fly casting. Participants will have the opportunity to cast fly fishing equipment. Information on additional resources will be provided.

Ken Okorn
Ken Okorn graduated from Penn State in 1965 with a BS degree in Zoology, with major course work in Aquatic Biology, Ecology, and Fisheries. After a thirty two year career in environmental protection with the Commonwealth of PA, he retired and began a fly fishing guide business. Although no longer a licensed guide, he volunteers as a fly fishing and fly tying instructor and donates hosted fly fishing trips to conservation organizations for their fundraising events. He has been a board member or officer with the Central PA Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, and the PA Fly Fishing Museum.
