Strathmeyer History: It's a Lot More than Christmas Trees
Tour | Registration opens 1/21/2025 8:00 AM EST
The evergreen tradition is a family tradition that started in 1932 at the Strathmeyer Grocery Store on West Philadelphia Street in York. Now, the five-generation, family-grown company Strathmeyer Christmas Trees/ Ground Roots is a premier grower of quality balled and burlap conifers and fresh-cut Christmas trees. Retailers, garden centers, nurseries, landscapers, Christmas tree growers and re-wholesale yards rely on us to supply quality conifers. Come visit our facility to learn more about our heritage and how our story began and where we are today as a diverse company.
This tour will begin at the facility with a show-and-tell and question and answer session. OLLI members will then walk to the Loading Yard to show the inventory of trees prior to shipping. Last, if interested, participants can view crews digging balled and burlap trees at the location in West York beside the Kinsley Materials – PenRoc Quarry. (Park off Woodberry Road in West York).
- This is a three sneakers, substantial amount of walking- outdoor walking, historic tour pace, not all areas accessible. Bring your own water bottle and walking shoes. Plan for 2-2.5 hours.
