The Science Behind Oppenheimer’s Bomb (Repeat with no changes)

The class will investigate the scientific discoveries leading to the construction of the first atomic bomb. Designed for the layperson, a simple explanation of the atom and how this theory was applied during the Manhattan Project will be presented. Using short videos, pictures, and animations, a chronological look at the science leading up to the first atomic detonation and the subsequent development of the hydrogen bomb will be explored.
Robert Moreland
Robert Moreland is a retired high school teacher. He taught chemistry at Dallastown Area High School for thirty-five years and also was an adjunct member of the chemistry department at York College of Pennsylvania for thirty years. He currently enjoys tending his small vineyard and making wine at his home in Seven Valleys.
