A Historical Event That Put York on the Map: Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Golden Venture Saga (Repeat from 2023) with no changes)

Course | Registration opens 8/4/2025 8:00 AM EDT

This course traces the story of the People of the Golden Vision created in 1993 to support the Chinese asylum seekers in York County Prison from the wrecked freighter Golden Venture. It recounts how some York residents rose to the occasion and helped them obtain freedom. The Golden Venture saga has been a milestone case in both immigration and American history and is being made into a movie. The presenters were closely involved with this grassroots movement and will share their numerous hitherto untold stories, including the roles of President Clinton and the Vatican in it all.
