Do you have a jewelry design you’ve always wanted to create but didn‘t know how to do it? Achieve it in this introduction to traditional and modern wax carving techniques for all levels. Explore and experiment with various waxes and their properties. Through demonstrations, observe how to carve sculptural forms for jewelry pieces such as earrings or bracelet links, and small sculptures for belt buckles or paperweights. Wax allows you the freedom to carve beautiful detailed pieces that could never be fabricated in metal. Create your own original wax model to be cast in gold, sterling silver or brass by a commercial caster in NYC. Learn how to finish your castings in class. Come to class with a design or idea to start.

Neger Lagos, Dana
Dana Neger Lagos

Dana Lagos is a master model maker and designer of jewelry and her own signature line of belt buckles for the connoisseur of art and beautiful craftsmanship. She received a B.F.A. in metalsmithing and jewelry design from Parsons School of Design, New York, who, in turn, offered her a teaching position. Three years later, Dana decided to explore other opportunities. Her passion for designing and manufacturing high quality belt buckles led her to open her own business spanning a 20-year career path with clients Calvin Klein, Nautica, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Arizona Jeans and Susan Lucci to name a few. More recently, she made the decision to stay on the island to spend more quality time with her family. Most importantly, Dana now provides the education and tools to help you design, and create your own jewelry. She is devoted to helping you recognize your own capabilities and enjoys taking part in discovering the growth and development of your personal techniques in metalsmithing. When she steps away from her teaching and creating environment, she spends time with her family; she has two children ages 13 and 4 and 5 cats. Her hobbies include watercolor and acrylic painting, sculpting, gardening, cooking, drawing and photography.
