Are you looking to expand your drawing skills? Looking to learn more about the use of color? Do you want to learn how to have dynamic impact with your art? Illustration with Ink and Watercolor is the class for you. In this class, we will be exploring illustration with using various drawing tools such as pen nib with ink, watercolors and other drawing tools to give your art that extra pop and polish to make it stand out. We will go over the fundamentals of drawing to get you started and a crash course on the materials and how they work. Jay Stuart is a working artist from School of Visual Arts, manager of Blick Arts in Carle Place and self publisher of his own series of graphic novels. Class runs for 3 sessions.
Supplies for Illustration with Ink and Watercolors:
9x12 100% cotton Watercolor Paper Pad or Block (Please make sure it's 100% Cotton)
Small Sketchbook
Decent to good quality Watercolor Pan Set
A few watercolor brushes (2 small and 1 medium sized round, 3/4 inch wash brush, large Mop Brush- or Quill but more expensive- Neptune which is very nice or Red Velvet still good and affordable by Princeton are good options
A bottle of waterproof black india ink
Kneaded Easer and Good quality Gum Eraser
HB Pencil and Sharpener
12 Inch Ruler with cork or foam backing
A few black, waterproof fineliners- thin to thick (Microns, Faber Castell Pitt Pens are some examples)
Pen Nib Holder and Nibs (Kuretake G-Nibs are great, Speedball drawing nibs are good too)
Pen Cleaner solution is good but optional, it's just easier to clean the nibs with
