A Fun Guide to Negative Painting in Watercolor

In this 4-day watercolor workshop, young artists will discover a cool painting trick called negative painting—a way of painting around shapes instead of filling them in. This technique helps create depth, layers, and exciting surprises in your artwork.

Designed especially for artists ages 10–16, this class is perfect for beginners and more experienced young painters alike. Through fun demonstrations and creative examples, students will learn how negative space can transform a painting and make it more interesting.

No drawing skills are needed—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Come ready to paint, explore, and enjoy the magic of watercolor in a relaxed and encouraging environment!
