In Afghanistan, pottery making is an ancient folk art with skills passed down from one generation to the next.
Matin will begin this series of classes teaching students to create small pieces: bowls, plates and cups, then advance to larger works such as teapots and other vessels.
Each student will glaze and fire their work and learn traditional Afghan methods and centuries-old decorative techniques.
A materials fee of $20.00 for a 25 lbs. bag of clay is included in the tuition.
Additional clay may be purchased for $20 per bag.
All ceramic work fired in our Electric kilns is subject to a firing fee of 5 cents per cubic inch.
All work fired in the Gas or Raku kilns is subject to an additional firing fee of $3.00 per student.
Firing fees will be calculated at the end of the class.
