Turn a Teapot

Turn a Teapot will provide students with all of the necessary information and instruction to create and turn a beautiful “contemporary style “teapot on the wood lathe.
You will learn how to design teapots, spouts and handles using various design tools and techniques.
In addition, you will learn woodturning techniques such as cutting, shaping hollowing, scraping, carving, and spout and handle making using appropriate woodturning tools.
Also provided will be information and discussion on appropriate materials including suitable wood types, methods, sanding, and finishing with wipe-on and spray finishes.
Each student will take home a beautifully designed and crafted decorative teapot.
Registration closes 3/20/2023.
There is a $4.00 registration fee included in tuition. Members will have the $4.00 fee deducted from tuition.
There is a $42.00 materials fee included in tuition.
** Class size is limited to 6 (Covid 19 vaccinated) students aged 16 to adult. **
Mask wearing will be optional.
**Please note that classes at Brookfield Craft Center must meet a minimum number of registrations for the class to run. Students will be notified within a week's notice whether their class will be held. If the class is canceled due to low enrollment, students may request to be transferred to another class or be refunded in full.
Don Metz
Boat builder, woodturner Don Metz operates Wood Z Way Studio in Southbury, CT. Studied at BCC with Keith Thompkins, Richard Raffan and Jim Degen. Studied folk art painting with Carol sue Roberts and at the Maritime Museum in Burlington, VT. Taught boatbuilding and epoxy casting technique at BCC. Member of the Nutmeg Woodturners League and the American Craft Council.
