Art journaling is an interesting blend of art and journaling. It involves using a journal or sketchbook as a canvas for artistic expression. Children can combine images, drawings, paintings, collages and written words to document their thoughts, feelings, experiences, or ideas. It's a flexible form of personal expression that allows for experimentation and creativity without any rules or limitations. Art journaling can be therapeutic, helping children explore emotions and reflect on their lives.

The objective of this class is to get children engaged in artist processes while having fun and expressing themselves. Throughout this class, students will improve their fine motor skills and learn the foundations of fine art to help them excel in their future artistic endeavors. At the end of the class, students will have an art journal of their very own to reflect on and the skills they practiced through the week.

  • There is a $4 registration fee included in tuition.

Members will have the $4 fee deducted from the tuition.

** Class size is limited to 6 students**

**Please note that classes at Brookfield Craft Center must meet a minimum number of registrations for the class to run. Students will be notified within a week's notice whether their class will be held. If the class is canceled due to low enrollment, students may request to be transferred to another class or be refunded in full.

This class is held in the Mill Building in the River Room studio which is beneath the Gallery. There will be a set of steps to walk up and down.

LaFlamme, Carla

I am Carla LaFlamme, a 2-D artist at Western Connecticut State University. Currently studying Illustration and Studio Art, I'm passionate about exploring mixed media and the creative process of art journaling.

For me, art is a personal journey of discovery and expression. Whether I'm experimenting with colors, textures, or drawing sketches in my journal, each piece reflects a part of who I am.

Looking ahead, I'm eager to continue my artistic journey by pursuing a Master's degree upon graduation, further refining my skills and expanding my artistic horizons.
