Henna (otherwise known as mehendi) is a form of all-natural body art. Leaves from the henna plant are made into a paste and applied to the skin, leaving behind a reddish-orange pattern for about two weeks. Students will learn about the multicultural significance of henna, the varying designs influenced by different world regions and best of all, how to apply it on oneself! Students will develop and strengthen patience, detail orientation and learn how to enhance their fine motor skills.
Please note that students will have temporary henna tattoos that will slowly fade away over the course of a couple weeks.

  • There is a $4 registration fee included in tuition.

  • Members will have the $4 fee deducted from tuition.

Class size is limited to 6 students.

.**Please note that classes at Brookfield Craft Center must meet a minimum number of registrations for the class to run. Students will be notified within a week's notice whether their class will be held. If the class is canceled due to low enrollment, students may request to be transferred to another class or be refunded in full.

Moni, Satil

Artist and poet Satil Moni has never been too far from art. She has been applying henna to hands since she was a child during lunchtime at school. Although her typical artwork mediums include digital media, colored pencil and ink, henna holds a more personal and traditional significance to her, as she continues to share the art with her community today.
