Learn to make “Damascus” pattern-welded steel. This beautiful and historic material can be used to make knives, tools or decorative objects. Starting with bars of two different kinds of high carbon steel, students will forge weld them into billets, fold and draw out the steel – repeating this until the desired layer count is achieved. Basic patterning will be covered, including twists, ladder patterns, etc.

Each student can expect to leave the class with at least enough patterned steel to make two knives, and the knowledge to make more.
Open to ages 16 and older.
