In this two day class, we will forge and complete a western style chef's knife. Students will forge their blades from 1084 high carbon steel, to a finished length of about eight inches. After heat treatment and grinding, students will shape handles from natural wood and fit them to their blades. You will leave the course with a fully finished and sharpened chef's knife.

  • There is a $4 registration fee included in tuition.

    Members will have the $4 fee deducted from the tuition.
    There is a $78.00 materials fee included in the tuition.

     

    **Class size is limited to 4 Students.

    **Please note that classes at Brookfield Craft Center must meet a minimum number of registrations for the class to run. Students will be notified within a week's notice whether their class will be held. If the class is canceled due to low enrollment, students may request to be transferred to another class or be refunded in full.

Simon Rhodes has been forging blades for 8 years, since taking a blacksmithing class at the Brookfield Craft Center at age 11. Since then he has apprenticed under ABS Journeyman smith and forged-in-fire champion, Matt Parkinson, and been published in both Blade and Knives magazines.
