Students will learn the basics of weaving on a multi-shaft loom. Beginning students will learn the fundamentals of how a loom operates and will be given the opportunity to sit at a warped loom prior to beginning their own project. From there, students will learn how to read a weaving pattern, how to prepare the warp and how to dress the loom. First-time weavers will begin by weaving a sampler to explore various twill structures. After completing a sampler, students can choose a project based on their own interests. Projects could be anything from towels, to scarves, to woven fabric for a sewing project. Class includes an additional 9 hours of open studio time, allowing students to work on their piece outside of class time.

**Returning students and/or more advanced weavers can reach out to the instructor ahead of time to put together an individualized project plan.

**Beginning weavers pay a fee of $30 for material**
Experienced weavers may bring their own fiber.

  • There is a $4 registration fee included in tuition.
