Join local milliner Jaya Lee for a two-day hat making workshop and create your own one-of-a-kind, draped felt hat!

On the first day, students will learn about millinery materials and tools, how to measure for head size, and how to manipulate and drape their felt on a hat block.  Hats will be left to dry until the following class.

On the second day, students will use hand-sewing techniques to add a sweatband and reinforce the shape of their unique hat. At the end of the second class, each student will walk away with a one-of-a-kind hat that is a true piece of wearable art!

Jaya Lee is an independent milliner specializing in vintage style

headwear with a unique earthy flare. Her interest in millinery

began while preparing for her own wedding. Unable to find a

headpiece and veil to match her ivy green dress, she made her

own!

Since then, she has studied millinery at the Fashion Institute of

Technology (FIT) in New York City, where she was trained in

traditional millinery techniques, and earned her Millinery

Certification in 2015. As a professional milliner she has had the

pleasure of creating hats and headpieces for clients all over the

world. Her work has been featured in: Belle Armoire Magazine,

DStripped Magazine, Threads Magazine, Best Hudson Valley

Weddings Ever, and today.com.

Jaya Lee is delighted to have the opportunity to bring the art of

hat making back to the Brookfield / Danbury area, which was

once the hat capital of the world!
