Bottle Stoppers and Ice Cream Scoops

Adult | Available

This beginner woodturning workshop will teach you how to make an attractive bottle stopper and a sweet ice cream scoop. This class covers wood preparation for turning the top of the bottle stopper and the scoop's handle, using the simple spindle turning skills the instructor will teach you. The scoop is removable and dishwasher safe, Wood selection and finishes will be covered.

Ages 16 and older. Students will make one scoop and one bottle stopper.

  • There is a $4 registration fee included in tuition.
    Members will have the $4 deducted from tuition.
    There is a $30.00 materials fee included in tuition.

     

    ** Safety Glasses must be worn and All Safety Guidelines followed **

     SAFETY FIRST* Closed toed shoes, Fitted sleeves, Long hair tied back.

     All Students are encouraged to bring a work apron or smock to each workshop

Boat builder, woodturner Don Metz operates Wood Z Way Studio in Southbury, CT. Studied at BCC with Keith Thompkins, Richard Raffan and Jim Degen. Studied folk art painting with Carol sue Roberts and at the Maritime Museum in Burlington, VT. Taught boatbuilding and epoxy casting technique at BCC. Member of the Nutmeg Woodturners League and the American Craft Council.
