Turn a Platter with Eggshell Mosaic Decoration

Learn to turn a wood platter and embellish it with a decorative ring of crushed eggshells and colorful modeling paste. Students will turn the platter and glue in the crushed eggshell embellishment then return the platters to the lathe to sand and apply the protective finish. These days, you need to use all the egg, even the shells.
*The completed platter will be food safe*.
An open studio will follow Sunday’s class from 2:00 - 4:00.
**Registration is required for the Open Studio session**
- There is a $4 registration fee included in tuition.
Members will have the $4 deducted from tuition.
There is a $30.00 materials fee included in the tuition.
**Please note that classes at Brookfield Craft Center must meet a minimum number of 2 registrations for the class to run. Students will be notified within a week's notice whether their class will be held. If the class is canceled due to low enrollment, students may request to be transferred to another class or be refunded in full.
Safety Glasses must be worn and All Safety Guidelines followed

All Students are encouraged to bring a work apron or smock to each workshop
David Heim
David Heim is a former member of the board of directors of the American Association of Woodturners. He has been turning for 20 years and teaches regularly at the Brookfield Craft Center and other schools across Connecticut.
David is also the author of “Saws, Planes, and Scorps: Exceptional Woodworking Tools and Their Makers,” which The New York Times listed as a design book that's easy on the eyes.
