After School Blacksmith Basics

After School | Available

Spend a fun filled 4 weeks learning how to bend and shape steel in our Good Forge. Our dedicated
instructors will use the forge and anvils to teach you traditional blacksmithing techniques such as drawing, bending, twisting, punching, slitting, and drifting.

Students will learn to forge with confidence and complete projects such as a 
J-Hook, bottle opener, spatula, or marshmallow roaster.

**There will be no class 1/19/26, MLK Jr Day**

** Safety Glasses must be worn and All Safety Guidelines followed **

 *SAFETY FIRST* Closed toe shoes, Fitted sleeves, Long hair tied back

  • There is a $4 registration fee included in tuition.

    Members will have the $4 fee deducted from the tuition.
    A $7.00 materials fee is included in the tuition.

    Please note that classes at Brookfield Craft Center must meet a minimum number of 2 registrations for the class to run. Students will be notified within a week's notice whether their class will be held. If the class is canceled due to low enrollment, students may request to be transferred to another class or be refunded in full.

     

Chris Doherty

Chris Doherty has been wielding a hammer since the late twentieth century and has been working and teaching at Brookfield Craft Center for many years. His work has been sold at local galleries and craft shows as well as online. He was the assistant instructor for blacksmithing at Peter’s Valley Craft Center in the summer of 2014 and is a member of the Northeast Blacksmiths Association. He is an enthusiastic supporter of the craft.
