Sandcast a Stick & Stone Pendant

This class offers an opportunity to learn the age-old art of sandcasting metal. Using real twigs and natural elements, students will learn the basics of making a mold in sand, melting metal, and casting. They will then sand, file, solder, add patina, polish and bezel set a small stone to create a one-of-a-kind pendant that mother nature would surely envy! Students will also learn about studio safety and safety guidelines for all types of techniques used within the Jewelry studio. At the end of the class, they will walk away with a stronger understanding of Jewelry making, a new set of skills to use to grow as a maker, and a beautiful pendant that they can take home to finish they like.
Open to ages 16 and older; previous handling of jewelry tools is recommended, but not required.
- There is a $4 registration fee included in tuition.
Members will have the $4 fee deducted from the tuition.
There is an $137.00 materials fee included in tuition
This class is held in the Mill Building in the Jewelry studio which is beneath the Gallery. There will be a set of steps to walk up and down.
Please note that classes at Brookfield Craft Center must meet a minimum number of 3 registrations for the class to run. Students will be notified within a week's notice whether their class will be held. If the class is canceled due to low enrollment, students may request to be transferred to another class or be refunded in full.
