Learn the potential of colored pencils in this all-level workshop. We'll touch on elements of color, shape, form, composition, opacity, and transparency. The aim of the class is to develop self-confidence and creativity, and we'll take a look at examples of both fine arts and illustration. Many artists use colored pencil, from Picasso to David Hockney, and colored pencil can have many applications, from sketchbook work to finished pieces!

Students are responsible for their own supplies - required supply list is below.

  • Prismacolor colored pencil set - minimum set of 12, though larger sets provide more opportunity for color blending and mixing!
  • Sharpener - Mobius Brass Bullet sharpener recommended, but any will do.
  • Pad of 9x12 paper - Strathmore colored pencil paper recommended, but any smooth paper will work, so feel free to bring what you already have.
  • Optional Supplies:
  • Pencil extender, blender - we'll discuss these tools on the first day of class.
