In this 7-week course geared toward students in grades 3-5, young writers will explore the fundamentals of fiction and poetry. Through a variety of writing prompts and creative exercises, writers will stretch their imagination and strengthen their skills in storytelling, characterization, descriptive language, and poetic techniques.

At the end of the course, writers will have the opportunity to select one of their works to be published on the Follow Your Art website.

Ashley Davis

An Ohio native, Ashley taught youth creative writing workshops at literary arts centers in Columbus, Ohio for more than ten years. She loves to spark students’ imaginations using humor and playfulness. She earned a BA in English Literature and Spanish from The Ohio State University and will graduate in spring 2024 with a Master’s degree in English Literature from Harvard Extension School. Her final thesis project is titled “Black Lives Matter in Shakespeare: Reimagining Race in Two Modern Adaptations of Shakespeare’s Othello.”
