Slow Flow Yoga with Arlana

Sign up for this gentle flowing class, in which we move through poses, usually holding a pose for 15-20 seconds. Emphasis is on slow movement through the available range of motion, gradually building strength and flexibility. Participants bring their own mat; wear stretch clothing and are comfortable with moving from a standing position to the floor and back up again. Occasionally we will use props such as chairs, blocks, and straps. Participants should bring their own mat, block, and strap.

Arlana Young
Yoga Specific Instructor Bio
Arlana has been practicing yoga for more than 20 years and
teaching it for more than a decade. Her vision for her teaching is to offer the benefits of yoga practice to those who thought they could never do it. She lived in Europe from 1999-2015, and she began teaching medical yoga in 2014 to American soldiers returning from deployment. She expanded her classes to include power yoga; prenatal and postnatal yoga; partner yoga, yoga for children and youth, chair yoga, slow flow yoga, Tai Chi, and YoChi. Her classes have developed over the years as she continued her training and saw the difference yoga can make for people with mobility challenges. She moved to Oneonta in 2015 after retirement and has taught yoga in Oneonta at the Unitarian
Universalist Church; Shangri-La Holistic Practices Studio; Hartwick College; Oneonta YMCA; Foxcare Fitness; SUNY Oneonta and through the CCAL program.
Tai Chi Specific Instructor BioArlana has been practicing Tai Chi for more than ten years and teaching it for the past 5 years. In 2018 she became certified to teach Dr. Paul Lam's Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention, a Tai Chi form that is specifically designed for older adults. Arlana continued studying with Dr. Lam's master teachers and is now also certified to teach Tai Chi for Energy, Tai Chi for Diabetes and Tai Chi for Memory.
