Neurodiversity and Leadership

Workforce Development | Available

Estimates vary, but one fact is certain: most adults who meet the criteria for neurodivergent conditions remain undiagnosed and unaware. In our workplaces, individuals with neurodivergent characteristics (such as are found in those with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, and dyslexia, among many others) face unique challenges that can manifest themselves in the form of questions such as:

“What is wrong with me?”
“Why are specific tasks that are easy for everyone else so hard for me?”
“How can I be so good at this and yet struggle with that?”

Those in leadership positions are not in a position to diagnose individuals but a critical awareness of neurodivergent traits as well as an informed willingness to strategically meet the various needs of all their people can transform a difficult environment into one that celebrates difference, innovates creatively, and performs powerfully. Furthermore, how can a leader with neurodivergent traits themselves successfully navigate the workplace and inspire others? Through awareness, struggles can turn to strengths.

This workshop is ideal for anyone currently serving in a leadership position, who is interested in leadership, or has an interest in neurodiversity or related topics. Participants from all disciplines, fields, industries, and sectors, are likely to gain valuable new insights.

  • Upon completion of this workshop, participants will:
    •  Be familiar with the prevalence of neurodivergent individuals in the workplace
    •  Be able to identify some common challenges that emerge from unaccommodated neurodivergent individuals
    •  Have a sense of the gifts, talents, and assets that neurodivergent individuals can bring to the workplace and prompt creative innovations
    •  Begin imagining alternative workplace practices that actually benefit all individuals!

Part 2 of a 2 part Diversity in the Workforce Workshop. Participants can choose to register for classes individually or as a bundle.
