This course will not only prepare participants for the Level I NYS Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills (ATAS) Exam, but also for becoming a successful teaching assistant.

Students will be provided with instruction to brush up on the four areas of the exam: Reading, Writing, Mathematics, and Instructional Support. The role of the teaching assistant, case studies, effective teaching strategies, and navigation of the NYSED-OTI online certification process for teaching assistants will also be included.
