733 - Art and Storytelling: Mixed-Media Expression

Adult Class | Available

Using paint, drawing, and collage, we will create art that reflects the artist and their "story." The story concept of socially engaged art is a practice that blurs the line between art and life, emphasizing participation, dialogue, and action. Participants will develop perceptual, creative, technical, and problem-solving skills using natural and abstract imagery while exploring "Happy Mistakes," and making art for art's sake.

    • Images – Xerox copies – black and white recommended – If using text reverse the image (mirror image) words will read backwards if not reversed
    • Foam Brushes –2 Inches
    • Scotch tape – clear
    • Plastic bowls for water
    • X-acto knifes
    • Cutting boards or cardboard to cut on
    • Canvas – 12x12 recommended
    • Golden Gesso Gel Medium – Regular Gel (Matte) or (Gloss) – Your choice
    • Texture sponges
    • Metal rulers
    • Scissors
    • Rubber gloves with texture fingers when doing larger canvas
    • Acrylic paint
    • Stamps
    • Markers

    What to bring to the First Class: 

    • Images (xerox copies - black and white)
    • Scotch tape
    • x-acto knifes
    • Cutting mat (self healing, preferred) 
    • Canvas 12x12" recomended
    • Metal ruler
    • Scissors
