422A - Crash Course in Metalsmithing

Adult Class | Available

Jump into the new year by trying a new medium! Learn to play with metal and create beautiful one of a kind jewelry. In this crash course, we will learn to pierce, saw, form, texture, and solder. Students will be able to complete at least one project. No experience needed and the class can be taken more than once.

This is a 4-week class. No class on January 20.

  • The Jewelry studio has a dress code, due to the presence of fire, chemicals, sharp objects, and heavy objects the Studio.

    To minimize the risk of injury, all Jewelry students must wear:

    • Closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops or sandals)
    • Pants, leggings, or long shorts 
    • Long sleeve shirts or t-shirts (No crop tops or tank tops)
    • Long hair pulled back
     

  • Supply fee covers 1 6 x 3" 20 gauge Copper sheet and copper wire. Additional materials can be purchased in the Jewelry Studio or on Rio Grande. If you wish to work in sterling silver or in large scale, you will need to purchase metals separately.

    Please bring a sketchbook and a small box or bag to hold your materials. You will be taking your projects home with you each week.
