451 - From Scrap to Usable Material

Have you been taking jewelry classes for a while and now have a growing pile of scrap? With the rising cost of metals, it’s time to turn that scrap into usable material for your next creations! In this class, you’ll learn how to melt scap silver and pour an ingot, then roll it on the rolling mill into sheet metal or draw it into wire using the draw bench.
Prerequisite: Must have jewelry experience using the rolling mill and torch.
- The Jewelry studio has a dress code, due to the presence of fire, chemicals, sharp objects, and heavy objects the Studio.
To minimize the risk of injury, all Jewelry students must wear:- Closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops or sandals)
- Pants, leggings, or long shorts
- Long sleeve shirts or T-shirts (No crop tops or tank tops)
- Long hair pulled back.
- Students are responsible for bringing in their silver scrap to melt into ingots.
