782 - From Earth to Color: Make Your Own Paints
Workshop | Available
This hands-on workshop introduces adults to the process of creating paint using natural, everyday materials such as earth pigments (made from rock, clay, et cetera), plants, and simple binders. Participants will learn the basics of extracting color, mixing pigments, and understanding how natural materials behave on paper and other surfaces. The workshop emphasizes experimentation, sustainability, and connection to the natural world, offering a slow and mindful creative experience. No prior experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to explore color from its source.
Participants will be in contact with perishable and plant materials that include honey, eggs, and may include gluten. If you have any contact allergies, please notify your instructor. TAC can supply nitrile gloves and masks upon request.
$15 Supply fee covers materials for color, binders, cheesecloth, and a mortar and pestle.
